Why Plant Purple Roses in Your Garden?

Purple roses are loved by gardeners for their rare, enchanting hues and classic rose fragrance. Their blooms blend effortlessly with silvers, soft pinks, and deep greens, making them perfect as statement plants or as part of a mixed border. By selecting varieties known for strong performance in New Zealand conditions, you’ll enjoy healthy growth, vivid colours, and months of blossoms.

If you love the look of purple but want options for containers or indoor plantings, consider complementing your garden rose collection with Anthurium Zizou Purple', which is a stunning indoor option with glossy purple spathes. Outdoors, combine your roses with hardy perennials like Liriope 'Royal Purple' to create year-round foliage interest at their feet, or add depth and contrast with shrubs such as Dodonaea viscosa purpurea (Purple Hop Bush).

Popular Purple Rose Varieties

When considering where to buy purple roses to plant, start with varieties that thrive in your region. Two exceptional options include:

Rose Blackberry Nip: A favourite among New Zealand gardeners, this rose offers beautifully fragrant, dark purple blooms and excellent garden performance. Its upright growth makes it a standout in any floral display.
Rose Simplicity Violet Serenity: This elegant variety features clusters of semi-double lavender blooms, perfect for hedges or mixed beds.

Pairing both varieties ensures a season-long display of captivating purple roses, giving your garden that sought-after wow factor.
