Search where can you buy catnip plants

Where Can You Buy Catnip Plants in NZ?

Catnip plants are available at specialist plant nurseries, online garden centres, and sometimes at local garden shops. When searching where can you buy catnip plants, it's important to look for reputable retailers that focus on chemical-free and healthy plants. Many nurseries offer catnip seedlings or well-rooted potted plants for convenient home delivery. Online shops often provide details on plant care and the catnip’s condition upon arrival, making the process hassle-free.

When shopping for catnip, compare offerings across reputable sites to ensure quality. Look for nurseries that include clear instructions for growing, harvesting, and maintaining your catnip plants, especially if you’re new to growing herbs. Catnip grows well in containers, herb gardens, and even as a quirky addition to your indoor plant collection.

Why Grow Catnip Plants at Home?

There are many great reasons to grow your own catnip. Most famously, catnip provides irresistible entertainment for cats, supporting natural play and enrichment. Beyond that, catnip is simple to cultivate, tolerates a wide range of soils, and attracts bees and beneficial insects. Growing catnip at home also means you can ensure it’s organically grown and free of harmful sprays or additives.

Indoor Companions for Catnip

If you’re building an indoor jungle or adding more greenery to your living space, consider incorporating complementary houseplants. Catnip pairs well with robust foliage plants. For example, Stromanthe Triostar (Stromanthe Plant) can bring patterned leaves and a lively backdrop, while Cissus rhombifolia (Grape Ivy) offers trailing vines for added visual interest. If you need a hardy, pet-friendly choice, the Chlorophytum comosum variegatum (Spider Plant) is a long-time favourite.

More Choices for Outdoor Gardens

If you’re thinking beyond where can you buy catnip plants and want to add resilient, low-maintenance plants to your outdoor beds or pots, try mixing in Helichrysum petiolare (Licorice Plant). It provides soft silver foliage as groundcover, complementing the fresh green of catnip. For a burst of colour and bird-attracting blooms, Duranta Geisha Girl (Geisha Girl Plant) thrives in New Zealand gardens.

Get the Most from Your Catnip Plants

Once you’ve found where can you buy catnip plants, establish them in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Regular trimming encourages bushy, healthy growth and keeps your supply fresh for both cats and garden enjoyment. Catnip also dries well, so you can harvest and store leaves for year-round use.

With some thoughtful plant pairings and a little care, catnip can become a staple in your home or garden. Explore our range of plants to find inspiration and advice for every style and space.
