Why Choose a Weeping Grevillea Tree for Your Garden?

A weeping grevillea tree is much more than just a statement plant. Its elegant, pendulous forms bring movement and softness, making it ideal as a specimen tree, screening option, or a source of dappled shade. Adaptable to a range of garden styles—from native and contemporary to classic cottage—this tree thrives in New Zealand's climate and copes well with wind, coastal conditions, and mild drought once established.

How to Grow and Care for Weeping Grevillea Tree

Plant your weeping grevillea tree in well-drained soil and a sunny position to maximise flowering and dense growth. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged spots. Once settled, these trees need minimal maintenance: just a light prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new blooms. Feed with a native-friendly, low-phosphorus fertiliser in spring to support vigour.

As a member of the diverse grevillea family, it’s worth exploring other options, such as Grevillea Eureka for impressive upright growth, or Grevillea Red Clusters (Red Clusters Grevillea) for abundance of red, nectar-rich flowers.

Landscaping Ideas for Weeping Grevillea Tree

The weeping grevillea tree easily takes centre stage in large garden beds, along boundaries, or as a living sculpture in smaller urban spaces. Underplant with low-growing groundcovers like Grevillea lanigera 'Mt Tamboritha' for a layered look and weed suppression. For year-round colour and wildlife value, mix in other flowering grevilleas, such as Grevillea Robin Hood (Robin Hood Grevillea) or the stunning prostrate Grevillea 'Royal Mantle'.

Benefits of Planting Weeping Grevillea in New Zealand

Beyond their architectural presence, weeping grevilleas are incredibly resilient. They tolerate dry spells, withstand coastal winds, and cope with moderate frosts. Their prolific nectar-rich flowers draw in tūī, bellbirds, and bees, supporting your local ecosystem. With minimal maintenance, reliable performance, and stunning year-round impact, it’s easy to see why the weeping grevillea tree is a much-loved choice for Kiwi gardeners.

Ready to transform your garden? Explore our full range of grevilleas, including Grevillea Eureka, Grevillea Red Clusters (Red Clusters Grevillea), Grevillea Robin Hood (Robin Hood Grevillea), Grevillea 'Royal Mantle', and Grevillea lanigera 'Mt Tamboritha', to complement your new weeping grevillea tree and create a thriving, vibrant landscape.
