Why Choose Russian Sage for Your Garden?

Russian sage plants for sale bring a unique combination of beauty and practicality to New Zealand gardens. Their tall, airy spires of blue blooms appear from summer through autumn, effortlessly complementing grasses, roses, and other sun-lovers. Russian sage is well adapted to our climate, tolerating dry soils, coastal winds, and occasional neglect. It’s an ideal border plant, excellent for low-water gardens, and stunning even in large patio containers.

Our Top-Rated Russian Sage Plants

We offer the highly regarded Perovskia atriplicifolia (Perovskia plant), the true Russian sage, celebrated for its profuse flowering and silvery stems. Gardeners also love Perovskia Blue Spire (Russian Sage Plant) for its superb upright habit and striking powder-blue flowers. Both choices offer reliable, easy-care performance and are available for nationwide delivery.

How to Grow and Care for Russian Sage

Russian sage plants are simple to establish and even easier to maintain. Plant your new perennial in full sun and well-drained soil. These drought-tolerant beauties mop up sunshine and don’t mind lean conditions, requiring little to no fertiliser. A light annual prune in late winter helps Russian sage maintain a tidy shape and encourages strong flowering stems for the next season. Once established, they're virtually pest and disease free, making them a worry-free addition to your landscape.

Perfect Companions for Russian Sage

Elevate your planting scheme with harmonious companions. Combine Russian sage with gold-flowered Phlomis russeliana (Turkish Sage) for contrasting colour and texture, or with vibrant Salvia Wendy's Wish and Salvia Mirage Hot Pink (Autumn Sage Plant) for a pollinator-friendly, long-blooming display. These plants share similar growing needs, making them ideal for waterwise, sun-loving borders and wild gardens.
