What Influences Rose Bush Price?

Rose bush price can vary depending on several important factors. Firstly, the variety plays a central role; classic favourites like iceberg-roses iceberg-roses may differ in cost compared to modern hybrids or heritage breeds. The size of the plant (bare-root versus potted) and its age are additional considerations—larger, established rose bushes often come at a higher price due to their advanced development and readiness to flower.

Another factor is seasonality. Prices may fluctuate throughout the year, with the best deals typically available in the autumn and winter. Finally, the source of your rose bush—whether a specialty nursery, online shop, or local garden centre—can impact the total cost.

Popular Rose Varieties and Their Prices

In our nursery, you’ll find a range of rose bush prices starting as low as $20 for select bare-root plants and reaching up to $60 or more for rare, well-established specimens. Among the most popular choices for New Zealand gardens is the iceberg-roses iceberg-roses, renowned for their reliability and stunning white blooms. These offer excellent value for both beginner and seasoned rose enthusiasts.

For those seeking something with a twist, the Hemerocallis Rose Cherub (Rose Daylily) presents a non-traditional “rose” option in daylily form, while the Portulaca Pazzaz Sunset (Moss Rose Plant) is perfect for gardeners with an eye for vibrant groundcovers.

Alternatives to Traditional Rose Bushes

If you adore the look of roses but want something a little different, explore the Weigela Wine And Roses (Wine & Roses Weigela). Its wine-coloured foliage and rose-pink flowers offer a beautiful contrast and extended seasonal interest. Likewise, for camellia enthusiasts, Camellia Red Red Rose delivers rich, rose-like blooms with the bonus of winter colour.

Tips for Getting the Most Value

To make the most of your investment, select robust, disease-resistant varieties and buy from a reputable nursery dedicated to quality. Consider pairing your roses with complementary plants to enhance the health and beauty of your garden—companion planting can create a stunning year-round display.
