Why Choose Daphne Perfume Princess?

Daphne Perfume Princess is celebrated as the biggest and most vigorous daphne variety. Its long flowering period—often blooming from early spring right into late autumn—makes it a true showstopper. Unlike classic daphne varieties, the Perfume Princess offers both bigger blooms and more of them, displaying delicate blush-pink flowers along its stems. Not only does it fill your garden with intoxicating fragrance, but its evergreen, glossy foliage provides year-round visual interest.

If you’re drawn to daphnes, consider expanding your collection with related varieties such as Daphne Leucanthe (Winter Daphne Leucanthe), Daphne Perfume Princess White, and Daphne Eternal Fragrance (Eternal Fragrance Daphne). Each offers unique colour and flowering characteristics, allowing you to design a scented border that delights every season.

How to Grow Daphne Perfume Princess

The “princess daphne ship” thrives in well-drained soil, with partial shade to protect it from the harshest afternoon sun. Plant it near paths, entrances, or seating areas where its fragrance can be fully appreciated. Regular watering is important, but avoid soggy soils which can lead to root issues. Mulching will help retain moisture and keep roots cool.

For gardeners looking for alternatives in similar growing conditions, consider classic winter daphnes like Daphne odora (Winter Daphne) and Daphne odora Cameo (Winter Daphne). Both thrive alongside Daphne Perfume Princess and extend your winter blooming season.

Complementary Shrubs for Your Garden

Daphne Perfume Princess pairs well with a range of companion shrubs. The neat foliage of Buxus harlandii, the vibrant blossoms of Hydrangea 'Rose Supreme', or the iconic New Zealand Leptospermum scoparium (Manuka) all complement daphne’s beauty. For a splash of azalea colour, explore Azalea Dorothy Gish and Azalea Deutsche Perle to create harmonious plantings and year-round appeal.
