What Influences Prices on Grass Seed?

Prices on grass seed can vary depending on the seed variety, packaging size, quality grade, and the scale of your project. Premium seeds like Tall Fescue often cost a bit more due to their drought resistance and lush, deep-green results, making them a favourite for many Kiwi lawns. If you’re after a finer texture and classic look, Fine Fescue Lawn Seed also provides excellent value and thrives in shaded or challenging areas. Factors like seed purity, blend (single or multi-variety), and even the time of year can influence current prices on grass seed. Buying in bulk may offer savings for larger areas, while smaller packs are ideal for patching or smaller home spaces.

Choosing the Right Grass Seed

Selecting the best seed goes beyond just comparing prices on grass seed. Think about your site conditions, intended use, and maintenance preferences. For robust, year-round lawns that handle heavy traffic, Tall Fescue is a top pick for New Zealand gardens. If you’re establishing a finer, ornamental lawn with low mowing needs, Fine Fescue Lawn Seed delivers a velvet-soft finish. In addition to traditional grass seed options, you may wish to incorporate ornamental grasses into your landscape. Unique choices like Anemanthele lessoniana (Pheasant’s Tail Grass), Juncus Blue Dart (Blue Rush), or Carex solandri can add texture, colour, and movement.
