Why Choose Nandina domestica?

Nandina domestica is renowned for its colourful, textured foliage that transitions from soft green in spring to rich reds and oranges as the seasons change. The clusters of white flowers in summer are followed by bright red berries in autumn and winter, adding a burst of colour when most other plants fade. Its upright, bamboo-like structure makes it perfect for garden borders, feature plantings, or even large pots on patios.

This tough, drought-tolerant shrub thrives in full sun to part shade and is suitable for most New Zealand gardens. It’s also low-maintenance—simply plant, mulch, and enjoy its changing colours year after year.
