Miscanthus floridulus, sometimes referred to as giant miscanthus or Chinese silver grass, is a striking perennial grass celebrated for its architectural beauty and versatility in New Zealand gardens. Standing tall—often reaching up to 4 metres—this majestic grass forms impressive clumps with broad, arching leaves and dramatic feathery plumes that shimmer in the wind. Whether you’re searching for a statement plant for a landscape project, a textural backdrop for mixed borders, or an effective screen for privacy, miscanthus floridulus offers both outstanding performance and eye-catching appeal. At our nursery, we provide expert knowledge and healthy specimens, ensuring your gardening efforts are met with success.

Miscanthus sinensis is an ornamental grass that grows as a clump of narrow, arching, green leaves. The colouring gives a light silver-green effect to the foliage, hence the common name, Japanese Silver Grass. Tall spikes of plum-like flowers are borne in summer, which are cream with a pink tone as they grow to 1.5 m tall and 1 m wide.
