Why Choose Leptospermum Varieties?

Leptospermum varieties are excellent for gardeners seeking hardy, low-maintenance plants. Most are drought-tolerant, thrive in poor soils, and resist pests, all while offering stunning displays of blooms in white, pink, and red. Their nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for pollinators like bees, adding ecological value to your garden. Many cultivars have foliage that releases delightful scents, enhancing the sensory appeal of outdoor spaces.

Popular Leptospermum Varieties in New Zealand

There’s a broad selection of leptospermum varieties suitable for both residential and commercial landscapes:

Using Leptospermum Varieties in Your Garden

Leptospermum varieties can be planted as informal hedges, screening plants, specimen shrubs, or groundcovers, depending on your landscape needs. Their robust nature makes them suited to coastal gardens, urban spaces, and rural properties alike. They’re also popular in native plant schemes and attract bees for honey production.

For best results, plant leptospermum varieties in full sun or light shade, in well-drained soils. Most require little maintenance—just an occasional prune after flowering to keep their shape.
