Why Choose Ice Plants for Your Garden?

Ice plants are renowned for their shimmering, daisy-like blooms and fleshy, drought-tolerant leaves. They’re ideal for gardeners wanting stunning colour without high water needs. Once established, they tolerate windy conditions and poor soils, making them a favourite for coastal gardens and slopes where other plants might struggle. These succulents create a captivating floral display from spring into autumn, attracting beneficial pollinators and bringing a vibrant touch to garden beds, pots, and retaining walls.

Our Ice Plants for Sale

We offer a wonderful selection of ice plants for sale, supporting both keen succulent collectors and home gardeners seeking resilient plants. Among our favourites is the Mesembryanthemum Pink Ice (Iceplant), renowned for its luminous pink flowers that light up garden edges and rockeries. For those wanting to embrace native varieties, Disphyma australe (NZ Ice Plant) is a superb groundcover. Its fleshy foliage and pretty magenta-pink flowers are perfectly adapted to New Zealand’s coastal climate, making it a sustainable and beautiful choice for native planting schemes.

Planting and Caring for Ice Plants

Ice plants thrive in well-drained soils and sunny locations. Whether you’re planting Mesembryanthemum Pink Ice (Iceplant) or Disphyma australe (NZ Ice Plant), ensure the position gets plenty of sunlight and does not become waterlogged during winter. Water young plants thoroughly at first, then reduce watering once they’re established. These succulents require very little fertiliser and benefit from an occasional light trim to keep them neat and promote fresh growth.
