Popular Hostas for New Zealand Gardens

Our collection features a range of trusted cultivars—each chosen for performance in New Zealand’s unique environment:

Each hosta has its own distinctive look and growth habits. Our team can help you select the best combinations for your space, climate, and style.

Caring for Hostas in New Zealand

Hostas thrive in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It’s important to provide shelter from harsh afternoon sun and wind—especially in hotter regions. Incorporate organic mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Hostas are generally pest-resistant but watch for snail and slug activity, especially in spring. Regular watering, especially during dry spells, ensures lush growth and vibrant colouring. With proper care, hostas will return year after year, gradually expanding to fill your garden with beautiful, leafy displays.
