Why Choose Fragrant Rhododendrons?

Fragrant rhododendrons are highly sought after for their attractive, heady scent and stunning flowers. Unlike many standard rhododendron species, these varieties fill the air with sweet, spicy, or floral aromas from spring through early summer. This makes them ideal for gardeners looking to add both visual and olfactory interest to their landscapes. Fragrant rhododendrons thrive in New Zealand’s temperate climate, loving morning sun and afternoon shade, with moist, acidic soil for optimal growth. They are perfect for woodland gardens, borders, or as specimen plants.

Our Most Popular Fragrant Rhododendron Varieties

We proudly offer several prominent fragrant rhododendrons for sale, each selected for their exceptional scent and reliable performance.

Tips for Growing Fragrant Rhododendrons in New Zealand

To make the most of your fragrant rhododendrons, choose a planting location with filtered sunlight and protection from strong winds. Mulch regularly to maintain soil moisture and acidity, and water deeply during dry spells. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage more blooms and a lasting fragrance year after year. Grouping fragrant varieties together amplifies their scent, while planting near seating areas lets you enjoy their perfume as you relax outdoors.
