Azalea indica
This variety of Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of small and showy, lightly scented, single, rose-pink blooms from winter until late spring. These are held abreast of the glossy, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good soil moisture levels during dry periods and should be protected from heavy frost while establishing. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants.
