Why Choose Dichondra repens nz?

Dichondra repens nz stands out for its exceptional tolerance to foot traffic, drought, and shade. Its ground-hugging habit means fewer mowings and less weeding compared to conventional grass. Gardeners throughout New Zealand value its ability to establish quickly and cover bare patches, even in tricky areas where lawns often struggle. It’s perfect for coastal sites, sloped gardens, and places where you want a soft, seamless carpet of foliage. Plus, it’s gentle underfoot—ideal for families and pets.

How to Grow Dichondra repens in New Zealand

Dichondra repens nz prefers well-drained soils and grows in full sun to part shade. Plant it directly into the desired area, water regularly as it establishes, then let nature do the rest. For persistent weed issues, consider a gentle selective herbicide such as Victory Gold - 1 Litre to protect your dichondra coverage while tackling unwanted intruders. Mulching also supports healthy growth during the first season.

Versatile Uses for Dichondra repens nz

This ground cover isn’t just for lawns—dichondra’s adaptability makes it suitable for borders around shrubs and trees, between pavers, or cascading from containers. Its vibrant green hue pairs beautifully with other landscape favourites like Coprosma repens 'Picturata' (Mirror Bush), creating stunning foliage textures and contrasts. For alternative foliage options, try Dichondra Silver Falls, known for its silvery trailing leaves perfect for hanging baskets and edges.
