Our Favourite David Austin Climbing Varieties

Caring for David Austin Climbing Roses in New Zealand

To help your David Austin climbing roses thrive, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and good airflow. Provide support with trellises, wires, or arches, as these roses benefit from training during their first years. Regular watering, especially during dry spells, and mulching are key to healthy growth. Prune in late winter or early spring to encourage new flowering shoots and maintain an attractive, balanced shape.

Fertilising with a specialist rose food after pruning and at midsummer ensures strong growth and abundant blooms. Watch for common rose pests like aphids, and use organic treatments where possible to protect beneficial insects.

Add Romance and Structure to Your Garden

David Austin climbing roses offer unbeatable beauty and versatility. Whether adorning a wall, tumbling over a fence, or adding fragrance to a patio, these favourites create an enchanting atmosphere in any garden. For more inspiration and to find the perfect match, explore our extensive selection, including Rose Claire Austin, Rose Falstaff, Rose Ann Turner, Rose Albertine, and Rosa 'Iceberg' Climbing.
