Cornus moonbeam, also known as Cornus kousa 'Moonbeam', is a stunning small deciduous tree that brings a delicate, year-round presence to gardens across New Zealand. Coveted for its elegant horizontal branching and abundant, creamy-white star-shaped flowers, Cornus moonbeam offers an ethereal show from late spring into early summer. Its subtle beauty and easy care make it a favourite among gardeners looking to add structure, seasonal interest, and a touch of classic charm to landscapes of all sizes.
Cornus kousa 'Moonbeam' is grown for its impressive flowering and autumn colours. Masses of white flowers coat this tree in spring. The leaves emerge light green in spring, age to become dark green, then develop colour shades of red in autumn before falling. It grows with a broad and rounded shape to about 3 m tall and the same width. Cornus 'Moonbeam' makes for an excellent specimen tree and is great for including in a mixed planting, growing as a specimen, or planting to border an entrance.
