Osmanthus heterophyllus Variegatus is an evergreen shrub that produces spiny leaves which are variegated dark green with a cream edge. The foliage is complemented with clusters of small and highly-scented, white flowers in spring as it grows to 1.5 m tall and 2 m wide. Osmanthus heterophyllus variegatus is often used to brighten up a shady corner or used to contrast with darker coloured plants. It makes for a colourful hedge and is well-suited to being maintained in container, planted around outdoor living areas, or added to a mixed planting.

Pleioblastus viridistriatus is a small shrub grown for its colourful foliage. It produces slender and lush foliage that is variegated yellow and light green. This is held off rigid, upright stems. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 90 cm wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Pleioblastus viridistriatus is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown around the base of larger trees, trimmed into a low hedge, or mass planted as a groundcover.
