Why Choose Climbing Burgundy Iceberg Rose?

The climbing burgundy iceberg rose is renowned for its vigorous growth and exceptional flowering ability. Unlike many climbers, it continuously produces flushes of blooms from late spring through to autumn. Each double flower is a rich merlot-purple hue, standing out against elegant, glossy foliage. This makes it perfect for high-impact feature plantings or adding romantic charm to outdoor living spaces.

Thanks to their flexible canes, climbing burgundy iceberg roses can be trained along fences, pergolas, or even grown up pillars. Their manageable size and disease resistance make them ideal for both rural properties and compact city gardens. Their captivating fragrance also attracts pollinators, enriching your garden ecosystem.

How to Grow Climbing Burgundy Iceberg Roses

To enjoy abundant flowers, plant your climbing burgundy iceberg rose in a spot with at least six hours of sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Prune after the main flush of blooms to shape the plant and encourage new growth. Like all climbers, tie the canes regularly as they grow, and mulch annually to help retain soil moisture over drier months.

Water deeply but infrequently to encourage deep roots, and feed with a balanced rose fertiliser every spring. With a little care, you will be rewarded with lasting colour and impressive vertical displays.

Garden Companions and Alternatives

For those looking to extend their rose collection, try pairing your climbing burgundy iceberg rose with the classic Rosa 'Iceberg' Climbing, which boasts pure white blooms and shares a similarly robust growth habit. Or, for a lower-growing option, consider the showy Rose 'Burgundy Iceberg', perfect for borders and containers. For a touch of height and structure, the Rose 'Burgundy Iceberg' Standard offers a lollipop form that looks stunning planted near garden entrances or along walkways.

If you want to mix roses with New Zealand natives, try combining with Leptospermum 'Burgundy Queen' for gentle contrast in colour and texture. Those passionate about Iceberg roses can explore our full iceberg-roses iceberg-roses collection for even more inspiration.
