It typically grows with a ball shape to 30 cm tall and the same wide. Hatiora salicornioides is commonly grown indoors as a potted plant but can be planted outdoors around outdoor living areas such as pools, or used anywhere the architectural properties this plant affords can be appreciated.

Commonly known as the Mistletoe Cactus, this is a succulent grown for its slender and trailing stems. Masses of the dark green stems hang from the plant like braids of thick hair. They are complemented with small, yellow-green-white flowers in summer. It typically grows to 10 cm tall and the braids can reach 7-8 m in length, but are often trimmed to shorter lengths (i.e., 50 cm). It grows best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site that is frost free. The Mistletoe Cactus is commonly grown as a potted plant indoors or in an office. It can be grown outdoors in suitable environments.
