Why Choose Rhododendrons for Your NZ Garden?

Rhododendrons have long been favourites with New Zealand gardeners for their show-stopping flowers and adaptability. Most varieties tolerate our cooler winters and love the acidic soils found in many regions, making them a low-maintenance option for both novice and expert gardeners. Planting rhododendrons is a fantastic way to add long-lasting colour and structure, with many cultivars blooming from late winter through spring, and some even flowering into summer. With careful selection, you can enjoy a succession of blooms and lush green foliage all year round.

Tips for Planting and Caring for Rhododendrons

To get the best results when you buy rhododendron NZ-wide, remember these key tips: - Soil: Rhododendrons prefer well-drained, acidic soil rich in organic matter. - Light: They thrive in dappled shade or morning sun—avoid hot afternoon sun if possible. - Water: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells.
