Planting & Growing Feijoas in New Zealand

Feijoas are remarkably easy to grow across most regions of New Zealand. They thrive in full sun with free-draining soil, and are tolerant of wind and coastal conditions. For best fruiting, plant more than one variety together (unless you choose a reliably self-fertile variety like Feijoa 'Unique'), to encourage cross-pollination and heavier crops.

Plant your feijoa tree during the cooler months, water well until established, and add mulch or compost to boost growth. Regular pruning after fruiting helps maintain shape and productivity, ensuring a bountiful feijoa harvest for years to come.
