Why Grow Daphne Perfume Princess?

Daphne Perfume Princess stands out among its relatives thanks to an especially long flowering season and the most intensely scented blooms in the genus. With robust evergreen foliage and a compact habit reaching 1.2 metres, this shrub fits beautifully into mixed borders, foundation plantings, and containers. From late winter well into spring, you’ll enjoy clusters of soft pink flowers – a welcome sign of warmer days ahead. Its pronounced scent readily perfumes outdoor dining areas and entranceways, making it an ideal companion for seating spaces.

If you love perfumed gardens, consider pairing Daphne Perfume Princess with highly fragrant cousins such as Daphne odora (Winter Daphne), Daphne odora Cameo (Winter Daphne), or the compact repeat-flowering Daphne Eternal Fragrance (Eternal Fragrance Daphne).

Planting Advice and Aftercare

Daphnes are best planted in dappled shade or where they’ll receive morning sun and afternoon shade, avoiding extreme heat. A free-draining, humus-rich soil ensures healthy root development and strong flowering. Mulch annually to retain moisture and use a gentle, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. Daphne Perfume Princess is ideal for planting near path edges and doorways, where you can fully appreciate its scent.

For gardeners seeking a standout display, you might explore varieties such as Daphne Perfume Princess White, which offers the same magical scent with pure white flowers as a stunning alternative. Or, try the timeless Daphne Leucanthe (Winter Daphne Leucanthe) for reliable late winter blooms.

Combine With Other Shrubs for Extended Impact

Enhance your landscape by combining Daphne Perfume Princess with other evergreen and flowering shrubs. Choose vibrant foliage from Pittosporum Tandara Gold or striking flowers like Protea Purity. Contrast textures with Hebe speciosa (Veronica speciosa) or the bold bloom clusters of Loropetalum 'Blonde and Gorgeous'. Each brings unique seasonal interest and trouble-free colour to the garden.
