Why Buy Daphne for Your Garden?

Daphne’s reputation is built on its heady perfume, which fills the garden or home from late winter through spring, precisely when other scents are scarce. Their compact, tidy form makes them perfect for borders, pots, or even alongside paths, so you can enjoy their blooms up close. From the bold pink clusters of Daphne odora (Winter Daphne) to the subtle elegance of Daphne Eternal Fragrance (Eternal Fragrance Daphne), these shrubs thrive in well-drained soils and gentle shade.

Daphnes aren’t just fragrant superstars—they’re also surprisingly hardy, with some varieties tolerating Wellington winds, coastal sites, and chilly winter temperatures. If you’re looking to buy daphne, you’ll enjoy a plant that’s as durable as it is beautiful.

Our Selection of Daphne Plants

If you’re keen to buy daphne, you’ll find several unique varieties in our nursery, each with distinct characteristics. Classic Daphne odora (Winter Daphne) is renowned for its rich aroma and glossy evergreen leaves. For extended flowering and compact habit, we recommend Daphne Eternal Fragrance (Eternal Fragrance Daphne) — it blooms repeatedly and fits beautifully in containers or mixed borders.

Those seeking a striking winter performer will love Daphne odora Cameo (Winter Daphne), selected for its stunning pink blooms and robust growth. Daphne Jacqueline Postill, a versatile variety, offers spectacular fragrance and upright form, ideal for hedges or standalone planting. For gardeners wanting something a little different, Daphne mezereum catches the eye with vivid magenta flowers and attractive berries.

Planting and Care Tips

When you buy daphne, it’s important to choose a planting spot with partial shade and well-drained, humus-rich soil. They dislike being disturbed—plant once, and let them settle. Regular mulching and gentle watering will keep your daphne healthy and vibrant. Avoid heavy fertilisers, and prune only sparingly to shape after flowering.

If you’d like to add daphne’s elegant charm and irresistible scent to your garden, browse our range of daphne shrubs. Bring home New Zealand’s most fragrant winter companions and enjoy their beauty season after season.

Ready to buy daphne? Explore our hand-picked plants, including Daphne Eternal Fragrance (Eternal Fragrance Daphne), Daphne odora (Winter Daphne), Daphne odora Cameo (Winter Daphne), Daphne Jacqueline Postill, and Daphne mezereum, to find the perfect fit for your garden.
