Growing and Caring for Bird of Paradise Plants in New Zealand

Bird of paradise plants flourish in rich, well-draining soil with plenty of sunlight. While they’re tolerant of wind and coastal conditions, it’s best to mulch and feed them regularly to promote strong growth and more blooms. In warmer northern parts of NZ, many Strelitzia species can thrive outdoors year-round; in cooler areas, they make standout potted houseplants that enjoy a sunny window.

After you buy bird of paradise plant NZ specialists recommend, water deeply but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Remove spent leaves to encourage fresh new growth and keep your plant looking its best.
