Why Buy Astelia Silver Spear for Your Garden

Astelia ‘Silver Spear’ is a hardy evergreen perennial that thrives in both sun and shade, making it incredibly versatile for New Zealand gardens. Its broad, silvery leaves create a dramatic contrast against green and darker foliage, instantly drawing the eye. When you buy astelia silver spear, you add a plant that is not only drought-tolerant once established but also tolerant of wind and salt spray, making it ideal for coastal properties. It works beautifully as a specimen plant, grouped in mass plantings, or as a bold container feature.

How to Grow and Care for Astelia Silver Spear

Purchasing Astelia ‘Silver Spear’ is just the start. For best results, plant it in well-draining soil with some organic matter, and water regularly during its first growing season to establish a strong root system. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. While Astelia ‘Silver Spear’ will cope with periods of dryness, occasional deep soaking ensures lush growth in hot weather.

This plant is relatively low maintenance. Simply remove old or damaged leaves and, if you’re in a frost-prone area, provide some shelter during extreme cold. Otherwise, Astelia ‘Silver Spear’ is resilient and long-lived, rewarding you with its bold foliage for years to come.
