Fruit Tree Fertiliser (Fruit Tree Fertiliser)

5 from 3 customers

Fruiting plants respond well to fruit tree fertiliser with better quality produce, higher yields, and a much healthier and brighter looking plant. Correct nutrition for such plants is important while they are establishing and also during the growth periods (spring, summer, and autumn). The Plant Company’s Fertiliser for Fruiting Plants has been specifically blended to give 12-months of continuous feeding with more nutrition during these growing periods. It also gives plants an initial boost. This fruit tree fertiliser blend is suitable for all types of fruiting plants that are planted outdoors and should not be used for plants grown in a container. One kg of fertiliser will adequately fertilise 12 plants for one year. Double rates can safely be used on larger specimens or where you think fertility is low.

Why Choose a Black Madeira Fig Tree?

The black madeira fig is renowned worldwide among fig lovers for its dense, syrupy flesh and exceptional eating quality. The medium to large fruit ripens to a deep purplish-black with a bright red, succulent interior. Ideal for eating fresh or using in jams and desserts, these figs are celebrated for their rich, berry-like flavour and balanced sweetness. The black madeira fig tree is also loved for its attractive, lobed foliage, making it a handsome addition to any food forest, backyard, or patio pot.

Growing Black Madeira Figs in New Zealand

The black madeira fig tree thrives in warm, sheltered parts of New Zealand and can be grown in the ground or containers. Place your tree in a location with full sun and well-drained soil for the best yields and sweetest fruit. Figs are generally self-fertile, so a single black madeira plant will produce crops once established—usually within two to three years. Regular watering, mulching, and light pruning help promote strong growth and abundant fruiting. During colder months, young trees may need some frost protection, but mature plants tolerate most NZ winter conditions well.
