Why Choose Lilly Pilly from Awa Nursery?

Lilly Pilly (from the Syzygium and Eugenia genera) is loved across New Zealand for its rapid growth, dense foliage, and ease of care. At awa nursery, our Lilly Pilly range includes robust species such as Eugenia ventenatii (Lilly Pilly). This variety is prized for its attractive, glossy leaves and sprays of fluffy blossoms, producing a spectacle through spring and summer. The naturally glossy leaves and dense branching create an exceptional living wall, while the berries attract native birds and add colour to your garden.

We select and propagate our plants to withstand New Zealand’s variable climate, so whether you’re gardening in Auckland, Wellington, or any coastal region, you’ll find the right Lilly Pilly for your needs at awa nursery.

Popular Lilly Pilly Varieties

For gardeners seeking something unique, awa nursery not only stocks Eugenia ventenatii (Lilly Pilly), but also other sought-after relatives and species. Our selection includes:

Syzygium australe, a favourite for formal hedging with its fast growth and compact form.
Eugenia jambolana (Java Plum), notable for its striking black fruit and subtle floral notes.
Eugenia myrtifolia (Syzygium myrtifolia), which boasts lush green leaves and pink-tipped new growth.
Eugenia caryophyllata (Clove), well known for its aromatic flower buds with culinary uses.

Each variety brings unique aesthetic and practical qualities to your garden, from edible berries to showy new growth and bird-friendly features.

Expert Planting and Care Tips

Lilly Pilly prefers a sunny to partly shaded location and thrives in well-drained soil. Regular watering helps young plants establish quickly, while mature specimens tolerate short dry spells. To keep your hedges neat and encourage dense foliage, trim once or twice a year. Applying a slow-release fertiliser in spring will boost healthy growth.

At awa nursery, we’re proud to share generations of plant expertise with every customer, ensuring your Eugenia ventenatii (Lilly Pilly) and related species flourish from season to season.
