How to Plant Your Silk Tree for a Perfect Start
Giving your new silk tree the best possible start will set it up for a lifetime of health and stunning pink flowers. It all comes down to preparing its new home properly before it goes in the ground. Before you get the tree out of its pot, check your soil drainage (i.e., how quickly water soaks away). Dig your hole twice as wide as the pot and just as deep, fill it with water, and see how long it takes to disappear. If it's gone in 10-15 minutes, your soil is great! If water is still sitting there an hour later, you have a drainage issue that will need to be corrected for the tree to thrive. Planting the tree on a mound is one way to reduce drainage problems.
