Location and soil conditions
Norfolk Pines grow best in full sun and prefer a sheltered spot shielded from strong winds, particularly when young. Ideal locations are coastal or frost-free areas with good air circulation. These trees thrive in well-drained sandy or loamy soils that are slightly acidic. Steer clear of waterlogged or compacted sites, as poor drainage may lead to root rot and eventual tree failure. Mulching around the base aids in retaining moisture and suppressing weeds.
