Aloe vera is a well known succulent valued for both its ornamental appeal and soothing gel. It forms clumps of fleshy, pale green leaves with soft teeth along the edges and can grow up to 60 centimetres tall and wide. In warm conditions, it may produce yellow or orange flower spikes. Aloe vera thrives in full sun to light shade and well drained soil. It is ideal for pots or dry garden borders and is very low maintenance once established.
