Buxus harlandii Richard, commonly known as Little Boxwood, is a spectacular variety that grows to about 1 m tall and the same wide. It has charming, bright green leaves, with a small indentation at the tip that makes it easily identified. Buxus harlandii Richard is often trimmed into a formal hedge, used for topiary, planted as a screen, grown as a backdrop for smaller plants, or simply included in a mixed planting. Pittosporum Little Gem is a dwarf variety of Pittosporum with foliage that is a fresh green colour and held densely on short stems. This evergreen grows as a ball to about 90 cm tall and the same wide. This hardy plant is ideal for including in mixed or border plantings, maintaining in a container, trimming into a low hedge, or using to border an entrance. Pittosporum Little Gem also looks great when planted around outdoor living areas such as pool areas, and its architectural properties make it popular choice with NZ landscape designers.
