Blueberry Toro

“Toro” is a Blueberry variety that produces large sized, firm fruit that is dark blue in colour. The fruit has a lovely flavour and ripens in summer. New foliage is blue-green and matures to mid-green. This shrub typically grows to 1.2 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of cooler environments though frosts may take out spring flowers and in such environments it may become deciduous. For this reason, it is more commonly grown in warmer climates. “Toro” is commonly used for fruit production, added into a mixed planting, or grown in a container. Planting several varieties is recommended to ensure a continuous supply of fruit over a long period.
