Carex secta, commonly known as Pukio or Swamp Sedge, is a NZ native grass commonly found in swampy areas. It features slender foliage which is dark green and held densely. Older plants may develop a short, thick trunk as it typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 1 m wide. Carex secta is a popular plant that is perfect for revegetating or enhancing wetland areas, planting around pond or stream areas, including in a mixed planting or border, or mass planting either as a groundcover or on a bank.
