Scleranthus biflorus, commonly known as the Cushion plant, is a New Zealand native with spreading, moss-like properties, but it is not a moss! It features narrow, dense, bright-green leaves and is commonly called the Cushion Plant due to its appearance. It forms a thick mat and quickly covers the ground like a carpet as it grows to 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide. Scleranthus biflorus is commonly used as a ground cover, included in a rock garden planting, or planted around the base of smaller shrubs.
