Hoheria populnea Purple Wave, commonly known as Purple Lacebark, is a quick growing, small, NZ native tree that features colourful foliage. The serrated leaves have a green topside and a purple underside, and are held densely on slender branches. The tree becomes smothered in white, blossom like flowers through summer as it grows to 5 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Hoheria Purple Wave is commonly included in a mixed planting, planted as a quick growing shelter tree, used for screening, or grown as a specimen. It also suits being used in revegetation and riparian plantings.
Acer palmatum Villa Taranto is an impressive Japanese Maple with its rich display of delicate and colourful foliage. Leaves emerge purple-red in spring, age to a mix of yellow, yellow, and purple in summer, then turn colourful shades of yellow and orange in autumn before falling. This deciduous tree typically grows with a rounded shape to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide. Acer Villa Taranto is a magnificent specimen and is ideal for mixed plantings, planting against a stark wall, or for using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
