Myrsine australis, commonly known as Red Matipo, is a NZ native shrub grown for its handsome foliage. It features red stems which host yellow-green, wavy leaves. Tiny, white flowers appear in summer and are followed by black fruits in autumn as it grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide. Myrsine australis is commonly clipped into a hedge, grown beneath larger trees, added to mixed plantings, or grown as a small specimen.

Aesculus Briotii is a variety of the commonly known, Red Horse Chestnut, and is grown for its colourful flowers and great form. It bears masses of showy, red-pink flowers in summer which are followed by prickly seed capsules containing nuts. The foliage comprises large and lush, dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to about 15 m tall and 8 m wide. Aesculus Briotii makes a great addition to parks and large gardens where it serves as both a specimen and shade tree.
