Escallonia Red Dream is a smaller variety grown for both its attractive foliage and quaint flowers. Glossy, green leaves give way to clusters of small, red flowers through spring and summer. It is an easily grown shrub with a bushy habit and typically grows to 1 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Escallonia Red Dream is commonly included in a mixed or border planting, used in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas.

Commonly known as Red Beech, this is a large, evergreen tree native to NZ. The foliage comprises lush and glossy, dark green leaves which turn red-bronze in autumn. It grows with a broad and rounded habit to about 30 m tall and 10 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site that does not dry out. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require wind protection while establishing. Red Beech makes for a lovely specimen in a larger garden or park, and is commonly added to native and revegetation plantings. It can also be planted for timber production.
