“Crimson Red” is a small, deciduous tree, grown for its lovely flowers, foliage, and great form. It produces clusters of ruffled, crimson red flowers through summer in such abundance, they literally transform the plant. The showy flowers are complemented with lush foliage which is a very dark red-purple, bordering on black. The foliage develops orange and red tones in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright habit to produce a compact and rounded crown as it reaches 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this Crepe Myrtle are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site.
