Acer palmatum dissectum Crimson Queen is a variety of Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful, weeping foliage. The finely cut leaves emerge a deep red-purple in spring, remain this colour through summer, then turn lovely shades of red in autumn before falling. It grows with a broad and rounded habit to about 2.5 m tall and 3.5 m wide. It features variegated leaves that are golden-yellow and edged with green. Purple-blue flowers adorn the plant through spring as it grows to about 15 cm tall and 1 m wide. Vinca minor Illumination is commonly used where a hardy ground cover is required, and is often included in borders. It is also well suited to being maintained in a container or hanging basket and allowed to trail over the sides.
