Carex lessoniana, commonly known as Rautahi, is a robust, native New Zealand sedge characterised by its broad, arching, green leaves. It forms dense clumps and is well-suited to wetland areas, stream margins, and riparian planting. Thriving in full sun or partial shade, it tolerates heavy and waterlogged soils. Carex lessoniana is an excellent choice for erosion control, ecological restoration, and adding bold texture to native landscapes. It also provides valuable habitat for wildlife.

Festuca novae-zelandiae is a NZ Native Fescue grass with delicate, tawny-coloured leaves up to 60 cm long. The leaves are rough to the touch and have sharply pointed tips. Flowering stems up to 70 cm tall are borne through summer. Festuca novae-zelandiae is commonly mass-planted on banks, included in modern gardens, or used to provide contrast with darker-foliage plants. A mass planting is the best way to showcase this plant.
