Beaucarnea recurvata, commonly known as the Ponytail Palm, is an attractive, small palm that is often grown as a potted plant. It features a trunk which has a prominent, swollen base and long, narrow, dark green leaves which are often curly. The foliage emerges as a plume, almost like a fountain of water. It can reach 3 m tall and 2 m wide but usually grows a lot smaller in a pot. Beaucarnea recurvata is frequently grown as a potted plant, added to tropical plantings, grown in large planters, or added to a mixed planting in frost-free locations.

Trachelospermum jasminoides
Trachelospermum jasminoides, commonly known as Star Jasmine or Confederate Jasmine, is an evergreen climber that carries dense and lush, dark green leaves which are glossy and serve as a lovely backdrop to the masses of fragrant, cream-white flowers through spring and summer. With a support structure, Trachelospermum jasminoides can grow to 8 m in length but it is usually contained with trimming. More commonly it will spread across the ground to about 50 cm tall and 2-3 m wide. It is commonly used as a hardy groundcover, trained on a trellis or the like, planted so it can spill over a wall, included in outdoor living areas such as around a pool, or used in cottage or “white” gardens.
