Dysoxylum spectabile (New Zealand Mahogany)
Dysoxylum spectabile, commonly known as Kohekohe, is a majestic NZ native tree admired for its glossy dark green leaves and clusters of fragrant white flowers that bloom in winter. This evergreen tree is unique as it flowers and fruits directly from its trunk and branches, producing orange capsules that open to reveal red seeds. Kohekohe is a striking specimen tree, bringing beauty, fragrance, and ecological value to NZ gardens and landscapes.
Tree Guards (Tree Guards)
Our tree guards and plant shelters are bio-degradable products that are perfect for using in riparian areas and other exposed positions. They are manufactured in NZ using recycled pulp and are designed to cope with tough and damp conditions. The guard does not need to be removed once the plant has established as it will naturally break down. Each tree guard is 350 mm tall and 200 mm wide and come with a 75 cm bamboo stake. One stake is threaded through the holes and the other put at the apex of the triangle for wind stabilisation. The offer reasonable protection from rabbits.
