Apodasmia similis, commonly known as Oioi or jointed wire rush, is a hardy native grass-like plant found throughout New Zealand. It is ideal for coastal areas, wetland restoration, and native revegetation projects due to its tolerance of salt winds and periodic inundation. Oioi forms attractive clumps of fine, jointed stems with a silvery-green tone that provides year-round interest as it grows to 60 cm tall and 50 cm wide. This plant is low-maintenance, evergreen, and excellent for erosion control and habitat restoration. Pseudopanax crassifolius
Pseudopanax crassifolius, commonly known as Lancewood or Horoeka, is a NZ native tree with a distinctive juvenile stage whereby it produces lance shaped leaves that are dark green to bronze. As the plant matures the leaves shorten and the leaf colouring tends to become dark green. It grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed. Pseudopanax crassifolius is commonly included in a mixed or native planting, used to contrast with other, leafier plants, planted around pool areas, or used to complement modern architecture.
