Adiantum aethiopicum, commonly known as the Maidenhair Fern, is grown for its attractive and soft-looking foliage. The mid-green fronds emerge from a clump and are held both densely and gracefully. In the right conditions this NZ native will eventually reach 50 cm tall and the same wide, but it often only gets to just 25 cm tall and the same wide when grown indoors in a pot. Adiantum aethiopicum is commonly grown indoors as a potted plant and is well suited to bathrooms, kitchens, and other humid areas.

The variegated Schefflera (Schefflera arboricola Variegated) is an evergreen shrub commonly grown as a houseplant due to its attractive and variegated foliage. It features glossy leaves that are variegated green and cream-yellow, with the leaflets arranged in a fan pattern. This variegated arboricola grows with a rounded habit to about 1 m tall and the same wide when grown indoors, but is usually contained with trimming. Outdoors it will grow to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary.
