Ilex crenata, commonly known as Japanese Holly, features small and glossy, dark green leaves held off short stems. The foliage is complemented with small, white flowers in summer which are followed by black berries in autumn as it grows with a rounded shape to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide. Ilex crenata is perfect for including in a mixed planting, trimming into a hedge, maintaining in a container, or planting around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like. Ilex crenata is also commonly used for topiary and bonsai.
