Hoheria sextylosa, commonly known as Lacebark or the Lace Bark Tree, is a quick growing, NZ native tree. The bark has a lace like appearance, hence the common name. It features masses of small, white flowers in early autumn. The flowers are complemented with glossy, dark green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the flowers as it grows to 5 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Hoheria sextylosa is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in revegetation programs, planted as a quick growing shelter tree, included in riparian plantings, or grown as a specimen.

Sophora fulvida is a smaller variety of the NZ native Kowhai and is grown for both its foliage and flowers. This compact selection produces bright green, fern-like foliage which is becomes adorned with pendulous clusters of golden-yellow flowers in spring. This evergreen tree typically grows to 4 m tall and the same wide. Sophora fulvida is ideal for smaller gardens where it is commonly grown as a specimen or added to a mixed planting. It is well suited to planting around living areas such as barbecue areas or for using as a textural contrast with other larger leaved shrubs or fine foliaged grasses.
