Alectryon excelsus, commonly known as Titoki or NZ Oak, is a NZ native, evergreen tree growing to about 8 m tall and 3 m wide. It carries glossy, green foliage which becomes interspersed with sprays of woolly, rust coloured flowers during summer. The spreading habit of Titoki makes it a lovely shade tree and for this reason it is often grown as a specimen or avenue tree. Alectryon excelsus responds well to trimming and makes for an effective screen or large hedge.

Double, pink flowers are borne in such proliferation they coat the plant through summer and autumn. They sit neatly amongst the fine and aromatic, dark green foliage which has dark red undertones as it grows to 2 m tall and 1.8 m wide. Leptospermum Blossom is commonly included in a mixed planting, used for screening and shelter, planted as backdrop for smaller plants, grown to attract native fauna, or trimmed into a hedge.
