Laurus nobilis, commonly known as the Bay Laurel or Sweet Bay Tree, is an evergreen tree that features leaves that are glossy green, aromatic, and somewhat leathery in appearance. Flowers produced in spring are pale yellow, borne in clusters, and result in small and glossy black berries. It typically grows to 12 m tall and 8 m wide but is often trimmed to much smaller sizes. Laurus nobilis is an excellent choice for hedging, topiary, and screening, as well as serving as a backdrop for other plants or growing as a specimen. The leaves on this Laurel are the well-known, Bay Leaves, and can be used fresh or dry in cooking to add a fragrant flavour to dishes.
