Podocarpus macrophyllus, commonly known as the Japanese Yew Pine, Buddhist Pine, or Fern Pine, features dense and lush, dark green leaves held on slender stems. This evergreen grows with a somewhat narrow and rounded habit to about 8 m tall and 4 m wide. Podocarpus macrophyllus makes for a lovely specimen and is also well suited to being trimmed into a hedge, used for screening and shelter, planted to soften a bland wall, or included in a mixed planting.

Araucaria hetrophylla (Norfolk Pine)
Commonly known as the Norfolk Pine, this is a large, evergreen tree that grows with a distinctive, pyramidal shape. The fresh green leaves are narrow, sharply pointed, and held densely. It grows with an upright and somewhat broad habit to about 25 m tall and 10 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of cool climates, frost, dry periods, and coastal conditions. The Norfolk Pine is a great tree for shelter or screening, avenue planting, or growing as a specimen in a large garden.
